Transportation at Adelaide Airport
There is a new taxi rank which you will find to the left as you exit the terminal. Concierges facilitate getting passengers into taxis and away smoothly! Adelaide Airport is quite close to the city centre, which is great for those wanting to take a taxi- fares are likely to be less than $20. A $2 levy is added for all airport pick ups. The main taxi companies operating in Adelaide are Adelaide Independent Taxi Service, Suburban Taxi and Yellow Cabs South Australia.
Car Rental in the Terminal
Car rental counters are located on the ground floor of Adelaide Airport’s terminal building, across from the domestic baggage claim area. The companies which have desks in-terminal are AVIS, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty and RedSpot/Sixt. Other car rental companies which offer rentals from the airport will likely have a free shuttle pick up service or meet and greet service for arriving passengers, so ask before you book. Deals from most Adelaide car rental suppliers can be found at www.adelaideairportcarhire.com.au.
Bus and Shuttle Services
The Skylink Airport Shuttle is the specialist airport bus, running a scheduled service from Adelaide Airport to Keswick Interstate Railway Terminal and the Adelaide CBD. It stops at most major city hotels, and operates every day except Christmas day, with a one-way adult fare costing $13. No bookings are required for scheduled services from the city or from the airport, but they are required for other stops. See the website (www.skylinkadelaide.com) for more details and booking.
Public bus routes that include stops at or near the airport are J1, J1A, J2, J7 and the JetBus service which links the airport to Glenelg, West Beach and the city with fares the same as those on all public buses, making it an inexpensive and convenient option. More information on public buses can be found at www.adelaidemetro.com.au, or by calling +61 8 8210 1000.
Adelaide Airport is not close to any motorways or freeways, but is right on Sir Donald Bradman Drive, a main drag which will take you directly into central Adelaide or to the coast. From the terminals or the carpark, follow signs to the airport exit on Sir Richard Williams Ave. From here you can turn right or left onto the aforementioned Sir Donald Bradman Drive. A right turn will take you across the green belt into central Adelaide- Sir Donald Bradman Drive becomes Grote Street as it enters the CBD grid. A left turn will take you direct to the beach as the road becomes Burbridge Road and enters the suburb of West Beach.
